Alex Black July 28, 1940 – Feb. 2, 2014 Alexander Clinton Black, 73, of Douglas, Arizona passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014. Alex was born July 28, 1940 in Syracuse, New York. He served in the army as a Hawk Missile Battery Technician. Later, Alex became a firefighter in Syracuse, and stayed there until he retired in 1986. Alex and his parents visited Douglas in 1959 and they loved the area and climate. In 1986, Alex and his mother, Vivian Black, moved to Douglas. There he belonged to the Rifle & Pistol Club, and was a life member of the NRA. Alex was an avid shutterbug, and for many years was official photographer at the Miss New York pageant. A regular visitor of the Douglas Fire Department, he was considered the department's official photographer. He photographed most of the fires in town. DFD plans a plaque in his memory.
