Alexander Clinton Black, 73, of Douglas, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014. Alex was born July 28, 1940 in Syracuse, New York.
He served in the army as a Hawk Missile Battery Technician. After the army, Alex became a firefighter in Syracuse and stayed there until he retired in 1986.
Alex was an avid photographer and for many years was official photographer at the Miss New York pageant. He was also a life member of the NRA.
Alex and his parents visited Douglas in 1959 and they loved the area and climate. In 1986 Alex and his mother, Vivian Black, moved to Douglas.
A regular visitor of the Douglas Fire Department, he was considered the department's official photographer. He photographed most of the fires in town. DFD plans a plaque in his memory.
